An internship at a local electronics company launched Tero Sulonen’s more than 20-year career at DA. Rising from software designer to Chief Information & Security Officer, Sulonen has been part of the company’s journey from a small engineering office to an internationally operating high‑tech expert.
Two decades of experience in technology brought Matti Hätönen to DA‑Group at the heart of a strong growth phase. As Chief Sales Officer, he sees the company’s next major step forward emerging from agility, strong customer relationships, and a bold shift toward more productized solutions.
What was meant to be just a gap-year summer job turned into a 15-year career in high technology for Mari Laitonen. Her journey from cleanroom assembly work to a production engineer has unfolded through space projects, learning, and personal growth—hand in hand with the company’s own development.
One Mother’s Day lunch changed the course of events: Maija Julin became intrigued by a technology company she happened to hear about and decided to knock on its door. What began as a role as an office secretary grew over the years into a key position at the heart of DA-Group’s strong development and international expansion.
DA-Group will showcase its IP-based Passenger Information Systems that improves the performance of rolling stock both in new projects and modernization programs. The systems operate reliably in Northern conditions.
DA’s 30-year success story did not emerge in a vacuum. Behind it lies not only the strong expertise of its four founders, but also a period of transformation in the Forssa region that gave rise to new companies and a fresh entrepreneurial spirit. One of the key pillars in DA’s early years was Pekka Ekholm, who helped the founders take their first steps as entrepreneurs and earned a front-row seat to witness their growth.
DA-Group has entered into a partnership with the Swedish company RealProgress to strengthen its offering in rail retrofit and upgrade projects.
In the 1990s, the impact of a single lecture carried far: a talk by technology entrepreneur Heino Ruottinen inspired four engineering students to try their wings as entrepreneurs. Soon, DA-Design was born—and eventually, the lecturer himself joined the journey.

Antti Aaltonen, one of the four founders of DA-Group, left the company in 2011. Behind the decision was a desire to make a lifestyle change and try something completely different. Today, Aaltonen looks back on the past with warmth and follows the company’s future development from the sidelines with admiration.
Europe’s new weather satellite MetOp-SG A1 was successfully launched into orbit, carrying on board a radiometric receiver designed and manufactured by DA-Group. The device enables the satellite to deliver more precise data for weather forecasting and climate change monitoring, continuing DA-Group’s long track record in international space projects.

Our story began with four engineering students driven by a passion to create meaningful work for themselves and solve challenges in electronics and embedded software design. We have come a long way: steadily progressing toward more demanding projects, international markets, and ever more ambitious technology.
