DA-Group is a partner in the Galileo Innovation Challenge event
Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom organizes the Galileo Innovation Challenge hackathon on November 29 – December 1, 2019, at its premises in Kumpula, Helsinki. In addition to DA-Group, the partners are European Global Navigation Systems Agency (GSA) and u-blox.
Galileo is Europe’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), created by the European Union through the European GNSS Agency (GSA). Galileo provides improved positioning and timing information with significant positive implications for many European services and users.
European Union invested heavily in the GNSS with the aim to provide European citizens a highly precise and accurate positioning, independent of other nations’ systems. The €10 billion project, named after the renowned astronomer Galileo, went live in 2016 with 28 satellites currently in orbit and supported more than 1 billion smartphones, not to mention other devices.
The European stakeholders’ objective is to promote innovative ideas and to develop applications for the exploitation of Galileo GNSS. The upcoming Galileo Innovation Challenge (GIC) in Helsinki brings together top mentors from the GNSS field, valuable prizes and an once-in-a-lifetime experience to embark on the Galileo era. Traficom, GSA, u-blox and DA-Group invite all interested parties to join the GIC hackathon to explore the innovations that are made possible by the enhanced performance of Galileo.
In the GIC hackathon, three challenges are presented for the participating teams.
- GSA: “Accuracy Matters”
- u-blox: “High accuracy GNSS in robotics”
- DA-Group: ”Can you identify interference?”
European Space Week, December 3–5, 2019, Helsinki

DA-Group showcases iSNS – Immune Satellite Navigation System –
made in Finland by DA-Group, powered by Elisra Combat Proven Technology
iSNS has an operationally proven capacity to provide reliable, non-stop GNSS operation providing comprehensive immunity to interference over extensive geographical areas for multiple satellite channels, handling multiple interfering signals or jammers that operate on concurrent frequencies. iSNS is compatible with all types of GNSS systems, without prior knowledge of the locations of GNSS satellite or GNSS receiver antenna. Modular and customizable, iSNS is designed for a wide variety of land, sea and airborne applications, in the defence and in other governmental areas. Its small footprint enables installation into new or existing compact platforms.
